First Practice

General thoughts about the first practice

Feeling really good about first practice. We have had great feedback from parents and kids!!!

The practice plan integrated assessments within many of the drills we were going through. The assessments definitely slowed us down a little, but we were able to get through most of the drills which was great. The team did well and I saw improvement within the practice itself. My anticipation is that we build on these skills each practice. I'm so excited about what I'm seeing and knowing where we will be in a few months!!

We covered some basics of fielding and started on pitching with the team. The drills we started on will be consolidated into our warmups and can't wait to see the warmup grow to support fundamental skills. I'd like to call out Steve Trimper of Stetson University for the inspiration for our warmups. I've modified his concept for our 10 year olds and will be growing into the concept throughout this fall. Next practice we will be digging into batting practice, continuing with pitching, and integrating catching. Can't wait to see everyone out on the field.
